Executive Housekeeper
Overview: The position is responsible for the overall leadership, operation, and financial management of the housekeeping department. The role ensures that guest rooms, public areas, and laundry operations consistently meet the company’s cleanliness, quality, safety, and service standards.
This position combines people management, daily operations, guest service, budgeting, inventory control, vendor management, and quality assurance. The role also works closely with other departments and senior management to ensure the property is prepared for guest arrivals and that housekeeping operations support a positive guest experience.
Reports to The Director of Operations. This position pay between $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 annually
Responsibilities:
*Ensures rooms are cleaned, maintained and ready for check in per company policy.
*Manages housekeeping division employees including: scheduling and developing employees to ensure employees uphold Kingsmill service standards and bases decisions for staffing levels based off occupancy forecasts
*Interviews, hires, trains, reviews, coaches and counsels department employees
*Oversees laundry operations to ensure efficient and effective process of linens with outsourced vendors and in-house deliveries
*Oversees work assignments daily, monitors efficiency/completion of work and maintains standards of quality
*Ensures processes are in place to ensure efficient check-in process and timely completion of all guest rooms
*Addresses and resolves employee issues/concerns that arise
*Ensures effective use of training and technical tools, i.e. HIGs, Stratton Warren, HotSauce
*Assists in preparation of annual housekeeping budget including manages labor and expense budgets
*Directs Housekeeping Manager to ensure daily departmental duties are completed
*Provides fiscal management to include maintaining proper inventory levels, procurement, P&L critique and labor management
*Maintains lost and found and ensures attempts are made to contact rightful owners of property are completed
*Ensures proper use of chemicals and cleaning supplies by monitoring usage, providing hazcom training for employees and ensuring proper labeling of hazardous supplies in accordance with the property hazard communication program
*Oversees the guest dry cleaning program utilizing an external vendor
*Maintains par stock of guest amenities, supplies, cleaning supplies, linens and uniforms
*Interviews vendors and reviews RFPs.
*Negotiates contractual vendor arrangements and presents to upper management
*Organizes pest eradication activities ensuring health practices are adhered to
*Organizes and maintains department incentive program
*Works with buildings, maintaining and operating within the guidelines of the established budget
*Schedules deep cleaning and preventative maintenance on rooms and public space areas
*Completes reviews for department employees in a timely manner following company guidelines
*Responds to guest issues as they arise ensuring satisfaction is achieved
*Inspects guest rooms, public space and laundry daily
*Cleans rooms as needed
*Performs other duties and special projects as assigned
Qualifications:
*Possess excellent leadership, coaching, motivation and evaluating skills
*Knowledge of the majority of equipment used in day-to-day operation
*Possess physical stamina to perform the duties of the job to include the ability to stoop, kneel, reach or perform repetitive foot and hand action and bend at waist performing duties of the job in a variety of weather conditions (IE hot/cold/rain/snow) with prolonged exposure to sunlight, lift, push, pull a minimum of 50 pounds, and can stand and/or walk, climb stairs for an 8 hour shift
*Skilled in directing, teaching, training and motivating
*Ability to work well with others at all levels and work with little supervision
*Possess working knowledge of infection control techniques
*Ability to handle stress and create a positive work environment
*Ability to exercise good judgment in making decisions
*Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, have a sense of urgency to complete projects and be detail oriented
*Posses excellent oral and written communication skills
*Bilingual is a plus
*Familiarity with MS Office Suite, HotSOS and OPERA
*3-5 years management experience in housekeeping, laundry or operationally related at a hotel or resort
*Must have professional presentation and strong customer service skills
*Proficient in computer systems
*Proficiency in planning, organizing, scheduling, maintaining budget standards, conducting inventories and placing purchase orders
*Must have valid drivers’ license
*High School or equivalent
*Ability to work days, nights, weekends, holidays
